Geologist for the UASLP (1984), with a master degree in mineralogy (Diplom Mineraloge) for the University of Karlsruhe (Now-KIT) (1990), Germany. Doctor rerum naturalis (Dr, rer. nat.) (magna cum laude) (1995), specialized in geochemistry also from the Karlsruhe University.
From 1995 to 2001
worked as lecturer and researcher at the Geosciences Faculty of the Autonomous
University of Nuevo León (UANL), Mexico and from 2001 on holds the position of
lecturer and researcher at the Engineering Faculty of the Autonomous University
of San Luis Potosí, Mexico, lecturing in Mineralogy and Geochemistry at
undergraduate level and Environmental Geochemistry and Environmental Management
of the Mining Industry at graduate level.
During the last 23
years have conducted more than 20 funded research initiatives in environmental
geochemistry with focus in identify and characterize risks for the environment
derived from natural sources and industrial activities with special focus on
groundwater, soils and sediments, using state of the art techniques in geochemical
and mineralogical characterization. Furthermore, I have developed several
consulting activities on my research topic for the mining industry, water
management authorities and private clients.
Derived from the
research activities I have authored or co-authored 24 papers in international
peer reviewed journals, 2 book chapters and more than 60 participations in
international and national meetings.
I have also been
invited lecturer by the UNESCO in several countries of Latin America to read on
Geochemistry, Mining and Environment.
