Gabriela Silva Maceda is a full time lecturer and researcher at UASLP, in San Luis Potosi, teaching in the B.S. in Psychopedagogy at the School of Psychology. Her research is focused in the following topics: Reading development, academic achievement and intervention evaluation, in most cases using statistical techniques such as multiple regression analysis and analysis of variance. Within reading research, she has studies the relationship between oral langugage, both receptive and expressive, and reading comprehension; the application of the Simple View Model in identifying reading difficulties; differentiated instruction in reading; and the relationship between reading speed and reading comprehension. She is currently still evaluating the Simple View Model in Spanish, and she is evaluating the use of technology in facilitating decoding skills. Along with other colleagues, she has recently started, to study ways to intervene in academic writing in higher education.

In regards to achievment, she has studied predictive factors in academic achievement in higher education, and she has evaluated the relative effectiveness of different approaches to teach programming in engineering students.

Within psychoeducational intervnetions, she is currently collaborating in measuring the impacto of a social program of musical teaching directed to disadvantaged populations.
