gci@uaslp.mxHe is professor from the Faculty of Engineering of the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí, who participates in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research projects and academic administration. He is currently coordinator of the Environmental Engineering Degree Program. His research topics are related to the characterization of waste from the mining-metallurgical industry and the evaluation of contaminated sites, with special emphasis on those where environmental liabilities of mining-metallurgical activities are presented. He has been responsible for four research projects financed by government agencies and by the industrial sector and has participated as a specialist advisor in an international project of characterization and remediation of an environmental liability in the Republic of Argentina and in environmental assessment studies, ecological risk and determination of the effects on human health, as a consequence of the spill of copper sulphate to the Bacanuchi and Sonora rivers. He has participated as a collaborator of projects aimed at defining strategies for the sustainable use of water in the mining industry, in which a methodology for determining the water footprint of the mining sector was developed. He has directed and co-directed 5 theses at the undergraduate level, 13 master's theses and 1 PhD thesis. He is the co-author of 11 refereed scientific articles, 4 book chapters and 53 articles published in international and national congresses proceedings. He has participated as speaker of 25 conferences in national and international academic events.
