Dr. Ruth Aguilar completed her undergraduate studies in Computing at the Autonomous University of Puebla (BUAP) and the Master of Science in Electronics at the National Institute of Astrophysics, Optics and Electronics (INAOE). Later she continued her studies of Master in Computer Engineering and the Doctorate in Computer Engineering at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in the United States.
In February 2008 she joined the School of Sciences of the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí to join the educational program of Electronic Engineering. Dr. Aguilar was coordinator of the Electronic Engineering of 2012 - 2017.
Dr. Aguilar's academic interests are focused on Digital Signal Processing, Image and Video Processing applied to Intelligent Video Surveillance Systems. During her PhD studies she focus on object detection systems using background subtraction techniques applied to sensor networks. Subsequently, she have focused on video compression systems, specifically towards High Definition Video standards (H.264).
