Torres’s research has centered on History of Education and Environmental History. Her first book El Instituto Científico y Literario de San Luis Potosí. Legado del Porfiriato (1900-1923) examines how students, faculty, political and economic changes played a role to University of San Luis Potosi opened on January, 1923.
Torres has
also studied relationship between nature and society. She explores what
nature’s role played in the social and economic development of Mexico. It will
ask the place natural history occupied in Mexican science and intellectual life
in the second half of the nineteenth century, from 1869 to 1914.
