I’m a Chemical Pharmaceutical Biologist (UASLP), Master in Biopharmaceutics (UNAM) and PhD. in Biological Sciences (UAM). I work as a Research Professor at the UASLP Faculty of Chemical Sciences. I teach Biopharmaceutics & Pharmacokinetics, and Community & Hospital Pharmacy in the Chemical Pharmaceutical Biologist bachelor’s degree program and Liquid Chromatography, Pharmacoepidemiology and Bioavailability & Bioequivalence Studies in the postgraduate program. My line of research focuses on Biopharmaceutical and Pharmacokinetic Studies for the Rational Drug Use, in which we are investigating aspects that affect bioavailability of drugs and identifying pharmacogenetic factors that influence the disposition of drugs in the body. We are conducting clinical drug monitoring studies, from the implementation of analytical techniques by HPLC-UV and UPLC-MS/MS to quantify drugs in biological fluids and determine their pharmacokinetics profile, as well as the application of molecular techniques by PCR to study the pharmacogenetics of: isoniazid, pyrazinamide and ethambutol, and the polymorphisms of enzymes NAT2, MDR1, CYP2E1 and GSTM1 in patients with tuberculosis; levetiracetam in patients with epilepsy; methotrexate and genetic polymorphisms of SLC19A1, ABCB1, FPGS and GGH in patients with rheumatoid arthritis; 6-mercaptopurine and TPMT polymorphisms in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia; among others. We are performing studies to individualize dosage regimens, as well as of Clinical Pharmacy and the implementation of Pharmaceutical Services to contribute to the rational and safe use of drugs.
