My research and teaching focus on the study of the hydrologic cycle and how it is affected by disturbances such as drought, wild fires and land use change in temperate, dry and humid ecosystems. My projects, publications and supervised theses comprise the assessment of meteorological and hydrological drought, the distribution, severity and risk of wild fires, the application hydrological models, the assessment of ecohydrological function and the effects of landscape change on hydrological processes. In most of my work, I incorporate a spatially explicit component to characterize processes and patterns as well as the modeling of scenarios to propose and improve strategies for natural resources management.
