Juan Antonio Reyes Agüero (Cd. De México, 1963), Biologist from the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo (School of Biology, 1987), Master of Science from Col. de Postgraduados (Botanical Center, 1992) and Doctor in Biological Sciences by the UNAM (Fac. de Ciencias, 2005); I have been professor at four Mexican higher education institutions and a foreign one (Fachhochshule Köln, Germany) and since 1997 I am professor-researcher at the Desert Areas Research Institute-UASLP; level I of the SNI (2007-2021) and Profile PRODEP (2006-2021); my academic interest is research on ecology and management of renewable natural resources, particularly in arid and semi-arid zones, especially with the Opuntia and Agave genus; I teach the subject of Ecology in the Multidisciplinary Programs of Postgraduate in Environmental Sciences-UASLP, and General Ecology, Biodiversity and evolution and Restoration and ecological rehabilitation in Environmental Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering-UASLP; I have been director (18 students), co-director (20) and adviser (39) of the thesis at the bachelor's level (11 director, 3 co-director, 9 adviser), master's degree (7, 17, 23) and doctorate (0, 0, 7); my publications (as author or co-author), consist of three theses, 49 refereed articles, 11 popular publications, four books and ten chapters, which together have received 605 citations (Type A, sensu CONACYT). I have been collected 2341 botanical specimens, 21.4 % of which correspond to Opuntia.
