My research interest is to understand how the limitation of water transport in plants can affect leaf growth and plant height specially in small trees and shrubs. I want to know the thresholds of these hydraulic limits. I also want to know how this hydraulic limitation can determine the shape of some plants; related to this goal, I have proposed a hypothesis on the development of the wide crown in isolated trees. I also study plant form and other acclimations as indicators of microsite condition and its use as a diagnostic tool for forest management. Another area of research is the study of water and carbon fluxes using different approaches along different marine, terrestrial and urban systems.

Personal Researchs Interest
  1. Plant morphophysiological acclimations as indicators for forestry
  2. Functional basis of plant form
  3. Water and carbon fluxes
  4. Hydraulic limitation of leaf growth and tree height
