Antonio Cardenas received his B.S. degree from the University of San Luis Potosi, Mexico, and master in computer science from Technologic Institute of Monterrey, campus Cuernavaca, Mexico; He received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, USA in 2001 and 2003, respectively. He spent three years between his master and Ph.D. studies working for the Institute of Electrical Research in Cuernavaca, and for the University of San Luis Potosi, Mexico. In 2003 he joined the CIEP of the University of San Luis Potosi, Mexico as researcher and professor. Dr Cárdenas was visiting professor in the University of Notre Dame (2003 ) and in Gannon University (2013-2014). He is currently developing joint research with Dr Davide Piovesan of Gannon University (Pennsylvania, EUA) and with Dr Walfre Franco of the Wellman Center for Photomedicine/Harvard Medical School (Massachusetts EUA). His current research focuses on vision guided strategies to control robotic systems based on estimation theories; multisensory integration (lasers, ultrasound, force and moment sensors , computer vision ) using Kalman techniques to control mobile robots.
