Dr. Rita Elizabeth Martinez Martinez studied her Bachelor of Dental Surgery in the Faculty of Dentistry at San Luis Potosi University. She holds a Master Degree in Dental Sciences in Advanced General Dentistry and a PhD in Basic Biomedical Sciences from the Faculty of Medicine al UASLP. 

She is currently a Full Time Research Professor at the Faculty of Dentistry at UASLP. She is Professor of the Special Care Dentistry Clinic at the Master Degree of Dental Sciences Program (Patients with disabilities and medically compromised) and Associated Professor at the Center for Research in Health Sciences and Biomedicine (CICSaB-UASLP).

Dr. Martinez made an academic research stay at the University of Aarhus, in Aarhus Denmark and has carried out projects in collaboration with National and International Universities and Institutions.  She is a member of the National System of Researchers (SNI-CONACYT), level I, and a desirable profile teacher (PRODEP). Member of the National Society of Researchers in Dentistry, A.C. Author of more than 20 papers in indexed journals and some book chapters. Dr. Martinez has obtained resources through CONACYT projects of Basic Scientific Research and complementary supports to the scientific infraestructure. She has directed bachelor, master an PhD degree theses. She has been a speaker at national and international conferences and has collaborated with international researchers on issues related to the relationships of systemic conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus erythematosus, preterm birth with periodontal health, as well as Dental Genomics, Immunology, dental caries and periodontal disease microbiology.
