Full-time research professor at the Faculty of Law of the UASLP. Member of the National System of Researchers, Level II (Conacyt). He is a Doctor and Master in Latin American Studies from the University of Salamanca. Specialist in issues of comparative politics, transitions to democracy, violence and insecurity, justice systems and elections and party systems. He has participated in international cooperation projects financed by the AECID, as well as in OAS electoral missions. He has carried out research stays at FLACSO, Ecuador, Columbia University of Paraguay, the Università degli Studi Roma Tre (Italy) and at the Institute of Economic and Social Development (Argentina). He is a member of the Editorial Board of the magazines América Latina Hoy and Revista Mexicana de Análisis Político y Políticas Públicas. He has been awarded the "Guillermo O'Donnell" awards for the best doctoral thesis (2013) granted by the Latin American Association of Political Science (ALACIP) and "Justicia Ahora" for the best academic research project awarded by USAID. Author of the books Atlas de la Violencia en América Latina (UASLP, 2018), Curso de Ciencia Política (Senado de la República, 2017), Las candidaturas independientes en México: una nueva vía para el reciclaje político (IEEM, 2017) and Treinta años de elecciones en San Luis Potosí: pasado y presente del sistema de partidos (1985-2015) (IEEM, 2016)
