He is a Doctor and Master in Latin American Studies from the University of Salamanca. He is a specialist in comparative politics, violence and insecurity, justice systems and elections and party systems. He has participated in international cooperation projects financed by the AECID, as well as in electoral missions of the OAS. He has carried out research stays at El Colegio de México, FLACSO, Ecuador, the Columbia University of Paraguay, the Università degli Studi Roma Tre (Italy) and at the Institute of Economic and Social Development (Argentina). He is a member of the Editorial Board of the Mexican Journal of Political Analysis and Public Policies. He has been awarded the "Guillermo O'Donnell" awards for the best doctoral thesis (2013) awarded by the Latin American Association of Political Science (ALACIP), "Justicia Ahora" (2018) for the best academic research project awarded by USAID and University Award for Socio-Humanistic, Scientific and Technological Research of the UASLP (2019). Author of the books Atlas de la Violencia en América Latina (UASLP, 2018), Curso de Ciencia Política (Senate of the Republic, 2017), Candidaturas independientes en México: una nueva vía para el reciclaje político (IEEM, 2017) and 30 años de elecciones en San Luis Potosí (1985-2015) (IEEM, 2016). He is currently the academic coordinator of the Master's in Government and Public Policy (SNP, Conacyt).
