gci@uaslp.mxI am a Research Professor at the Unidad Académica Multidisciplinaria Zona Media since 2013, having participated in the PRODEP call for applications. I am part of the Educational Program of a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, in the Biomedical field. My academic journey started with a Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacological Chemistry from UASLP (1998-2003), where I graduated with a Testimony of High Academic Performance by the EGEL-CENEVAL. Subsequently, I pursued a Master's Degree in Basic Biomedical Sciences at the School of Medicine, completing my thesis on "Renal glucose transporters are modified by hypoglycaemic drugs in obese rats" and graduating in 2005. Later, I completed my PhD in Biomedical Sciences at the School of Medicine with my work on "Autocrine modulation of glucose transporter SGLT2 by IL-6 and TNFa in LLC-PK1 cells".
I have been
a part of the Academic Group Health Care since 2013, and recently served as the
Leader of this CA from 2019 to 2022. During this time, I strengthened the
research line on obesity, insulin resistance, and diabetes. This research line
has enabled me to conduct basic and clinical research projects on the cellular
mechanisms of insulin resistance associated with obesity, the role of
pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines (the latter derived from
exercise) in this phenomenon of insulin resistance, and chronic
non-communicable diseases, as well as anthropometric characteristics associated
with obesity and insulin resistance. Since 2015, I have been recognized with
the PRODEP profile, and I was a member of the SNI from 2013 to 2016.
