Christian holds a medical degree from Universidad Autonoma de Coahuila. He studied his PhD at the Anthony Nolan Research Institute, Royal Free Hospital and University College London. He has developed molecular tools for the study of HLA-DR, MICA/B and KIR genes and worked towards developing molecular methods for work with blood-borne viral pathogens such as Hepatitis B and C virus (HBV, HCV) and Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). He is currently involved in the assessment of the regional burden posed by arthropod, bat-borne and rodent-borne exotic viral pathogens (ZIKV, CHIKV, DENV, RABV, Hantavirus, Arenavirus and Coronavirus). He is currently princpal investigator at the Viral & Human Genomics Lab at UASLP's School of Medicine.
