gci@uaslp.mxResearch in my laboratory is focused on understanding how ion channels, specifically, potassium channels, are modulated. We have two major interest at present. First, we are interested in the modulation of voltage-gated potassium channels (Kv channels) by lipids, such as PIP2 and cholesterol. We are also pursuing the molecular basis of Kv channel-lipid interactions by molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulations.
Second, we are interested in the molecular function and pharmacology of
inwardly rectifying potassium channels (Kir channels). The family of Kir
channels plays central roles in the control of cellular excitability and K
ion homeostasis.
We use a variety of techniques, including electrophysiology, cell
culture, molecular biology, pharmacology and computational methods.
