Current position

Full-Time Professor-Researcher, School of Sciences, Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí.

Research interests 

Conservation Biology, Population Ecology, Landscape Ecology, Animal Behavior, Large Carnivores, Protected Areas Management, People-Wildlife Conflicts, Environmental Education. 

My research is centered in understanding the effects of human activities on wildlife communities at a landscape level, and therefore, my research includes the use of geographical analytical tools. I want to contribute to the improvement of protected areas management, therefore, most of my research has been conducted in these areas. Some themes I have explored are: hunting and its effects on wildlife populations, interactions between people and large carnivores, effects of road development on wildlife distribution, predator-prey relationships, and animal behavior in anthropogenic landscapes 

Some of my current research projects are:

Ecology and conservation of flying and terrestrial mammals in the Protected Area of Sierra de Álvarez, San Luis Potosí, México. 

Permanent monitoring of large and medium-sized terrestrial vertebrates with camera traps in Yasuní National Park, Ecuador. For this purpose, I collaborate with the Tropical Ecology Assessment and Monitoring Network (TEAM).
